Bruhan Maharashtra 65th All India Adhiveshan At Belgaum


Our representatives, Mr. Chandrashekhar Mathure, Ex. President & Patron member and Mrs. Sneha Ketkar active committee member attended to represent 'Mitramandal Bangalore'.

The Brihan Maharashtra Mandal’s (BMM) 65th All India annual Conference at Belgaum concluded from 11th Jan - 13th Jan as organizers and participants promised to keep working for the protection and promotion of the identity of Marathi-speaking communities settled outside Maharashtra.


The three day conference was organized by the Marathi Bhasha Premi Mandal, Belgaum, at Ramnath Mangal Karyalaya in Bhagya Nagar here. The main objective of the conference was to take fresh stock of various issues and explore areas where BMM could work for the further betterment of the Marathi-speaking community. Around 1,000 delegates from different parts of the country participated.


The Interview of Dr. Shriniwas Thanedar, prominent enterprenuar of USA & writer of Marathi book ' Hi Shrinchi Ichha'.( 38 editions have been printed till date ) was very interesting and for new generation a guideline in their future life.


Delivering the valedictory address, Mr. Prakash Javadekar, senior leader from Maharashtra and BJP spokesman, stressed on the need to protect the cultural identity associated with a linguistic community. He also offered to take up any role to further the cause of Marathi-speaking people if the mandal came forward with a proposal in that direction.


Earlier in the morning, a Shoba Yatra was taken out, and In the evening session, actor, writer Shri.Dilip Prabhavalkar who played ‘Bapu’ in the Hindi film ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ presented his famous ' Chimanrao Te Gandhi' a one man outstanding show to entertain the delegates from all over India.


Well-known orator and historian from Maharashtra Mr. Pandurang Balkawde, who inaugurated the conference along with Mr. Prabhavalkar on Saturday, spoke about ‘Maharashtra outside Maharashtra’. He said that even after migrating from Maharashtra, the Marathi-speaking community had retained its cultural identity.


There were some prominent politicians Mr. Prakash Jawdekar, MP Rajyasabha, Mr. Vishnu Surya Wagh, MLA and Chairman of Kala Academy, Goa, and Mr. Suresh C. Angadi, MP were present. Also present were Mr. Ashok Patki, Music Director, of ' Mile Sur Mera Tumhara'.


Our representatives briefed the audience about our cultural, social activities during last few years of 'Mitramandal Bangalore’.
